Dr. Shaw established his prosthodontic practice over thirty years ago. He has built the practice and his reputation within the community by focusing his attention on each patient individually. He realized early on that he wanted to excel as a prosthodontist and focused all of his efforts on achieving that goal through continuing education, technology and an unwavering emphasis on patient care.

After graduating from McGill University's Faculty of Dental Medicine, Dr Shaw completed his prosthodontic specialty training at New York University and subsequently became Board Certified by the American Board of Prosthodontics in 1994. In addition, he has completed a two-year surgical implant fellowship under the direction of Dr. Dennis Tarnow at the Department of Periodontics and Implant dentistry of New York University. This Fellowship gave him a very thorough understanding of all aspects of dental implant surgery and related surgical procedures. His prosthodontic commitment has also recognized him fellowship status with the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics, the American Board of Prosthodontics and the Northeastern Gnathological Society.

Dr. Shaw is a private practitioner who has had the opportunity to teach at McGill University and New York University for several years. He welcomed and appreciated this opportunity to share his knowledge and passion for dentistry with the dental community of the future. This same passion has led him to attend several of the most advanced courses and conferences around the globe.

Today, Dr Shaw is a renowned prosthodontist with a unique understanding of all the elements that go into a beautiful, healthy smile.

With this thorough understanding of prosthodontics and implant dentistry, he offers a unique service to all patients. Consequently, he is able to incorporate a very thorough approach to his examinations. This enables him to develop complete treatment plans that integrate occlusion optimization, integrity of the natural teeth and aesthetic appeal of the prosthetic restorations. This strategy has allowed Dr. Shaw to offer comprehensive solutions for patients that needed them. He has adopted a phased approach to ensure that each detail is attended to and that you, the patient, are aware and fully understand your specific case and the treatment options available to you.

Although the referrals of patients from dentists across the province have traditionally played a large part in Dr. Shaw’s practice, he has always made a concerted effort to make his specialized services available to all those who needed them. Even today, in his busy practice, patients without a referral for consultation are welcome at all times.
